Release the ministerial order no. 4 of 2004 with respect to the accreditation and supervision of Certification Service Provider (CSP) which is means entity or a legal or natural person who issues identity certifications for the purposes of electronic signatures. Bahrain's CSP was prepared based on the most advanced international electronic signatures standers and best practices from both the European Union (EU) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). 

Enhance and Develop new services in the ministry’s website which serve the applicant so that he/she can accomplish his/her dealings through this site easily. Although all the registered companies can obtain various facilities including the assignment of special websites and Back-office services, etc. 

Lunch Content Management System (CMS) to serve the general public, the business community and to streamline all the business in Bahrain thereby strengthening the Bahraini economy. 

Working with the privet sector to Support the "Online Business" program to help Bahrain's businesses and industries exploit the business benefits of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) as a major driver for competitiveness in eMarket. 

eInvestor solutions that aims to provide the basis for operations automation and a business intelligence solution catering to pre- and post- investment services. 

Participating in Establishing Bahrain Investor Center (BIC) to simplify the procedures and processes and facilitate speedy incorporation of new businesses in Bahrain. BIC a center of excellence is a unique facility which has been established with the active participation of a number of Government entities and private sector organisations which have physical presence at the center to help the business. 

Establishing eCommerce Database project that provides eCommerce data for the public and implements an active database to collect offline and online statistics and information concerning eCommerce vital indicators in the kingdom. 

Raise the awareness and understanding of "Doing Business on Line" through the preparation of an effective marketing and promotion strategy to ensure that eCommerce technology is widely accepted in Bahrain. 

Singed a contract with Microsoft that provide programs and consultancy services in project management and development of a strategic eCommerce infrastructure, such project done in eCommerce are: 

  • Electronic Application for the PKI
  • Review eCommerce Directorate road map for the years 2004-2006
  • Developing the work plan for eCommerce in the kingdom  

eCommerce roadmap focused on the role of the Ministry of Commerce in promoting and infusing the eCommerce marketplace in the Kingdom of Bahrain and assessment of Bahrain’s level of progress toward becoming “The Middle East e-Commerce Center of Choice”. More over, the roadmap evaluate the impact of policy initiatives and environmental factors of e-commerce leading countries and how they succeeded in particular components of their e-economy and develop measurable e-commerce roadmap as a key enabler the growth of Bahrain’s e-economy. Another objective of the roadmap is to identify any applicable worldwide best practices and successful e-commerce initiatives to address Bahrain’s competitiveness and adoption barriers. 

Host and run annual” Bahrain eContent Award" in association with Bahrain Internet Society (BIS), which will make it the first contents of its type in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Bahrain eContent Award (BEA) will aim at encouraging the creativity of enhancing the local electronic content. The content will be extension of the Global Summit Award in the first version of which Ministry of Commerce's website has won, by being one of the best five websites in the classification of eGovernments on a world wild level.

Create the "Arab eContent Award" initiative to encourage the businesses, IT system developers and individuals in all Arab countries to establish the kingdom of Bahrain as the capital of eContent in the region. 

Support the FutureIT 2004 Conference & Exhibition in event is held in association with the Bahrain Internet Society (BIS) to attract regional and local IT pioneers in participating in Bahrain premium ICT Event. The Exhibition runs in parallel with a conference and a workshop that attracted 450 delegates and over 32 speakers from various industries.

Sign a Memorandum of understanding with WSA to develop and enhance the eContent initiatives in Bahrain and the region which will host WSA software and ground jury. 

Sign a Memorandum of understanding with Bahrain internet society to develop and support future IT2005 and Global ICT 2005 which will be hosted in May 2005 which will support the eCommerce mobilization in the kingdom of Bahrain. The events will attract leading international providers of IT systems, software and services technologies across Europe, North America and Asia.

Sign a Memorandum of understanding with Microsoft to launch B-Online initiative to support the eSME. The business units would be able to buy and sell online and thereby getting the major chunk of Bahrain’s economy online and automated. Most of the small and business units would prefer getting automated due to the simple facts of increased productivity, consumption of less time, opportunities to new avenues in business, and long term reduced costs. However the negativity towards automation comes in terms of three important barriers:

  • Cost of automation
  • Training / knowledge of handling the system
  • Reliability of support service
