Introduction
The Company Affairs Directorate is responsible for the commercial registration and supervision of all types of companies, including foreign branches, as well providing registration services for Commercial Agents. The Commercial Companies Law and the Law of Commerce, together with the implementing regulations, provide the legal framework for these entities to incorporate, as well as establishing the regulatory environment under which the Directorate carries out its supervisory function.
The Directorate views its primary task as being to support the organic growth of existing businesses as well as to encourage new business start-ups, by maintaining a transparent, market led commercial environment, which is conducive to business development, and at the same time protects the legitimacy of Bahrain as a regional and international business centre. In this regard, the Directorate receives the annual financial statements of companies, and monitors developments for compliance with the laws, as well as providing guidance and direction to companies on anti-money laundering and corporate governance issues.
