General Information on Quality Assurance Section
The Quality Assurance Department has started its Quality Management System (QMS) Scheme in 1996 with the initiative of assisting small and medium industries (SMI’s) to upgrade their performance and enhance their competitiveness. The Department aimed to instill quality awareness and quality improvement culture in the SMI’s and consequently helped them in developing their quality management systems with close monitoring to assure proper implementation.
The services provided under the scheme cover advisory/consultancy, training, and auditing to assist local SMI’s meet QMS requirements and achieve certification.
THE MINISTRY OF COMMERCE ACHIEVES ISO 9001:2000 CERTIFICATION
The Ministry of Commerce was awarded ISO 9001:2000 certificate by BVQI on May 2003.
In year 2001 the Quality Assurance Department focused its capabilities to implement the ISO 9001 Quality Management System in the Ministry. As the rapid growth in the Ministry’s activities along with the increasing number of customers, forced to introduce the ISO quality management system to control such activities and achieve maximum efficiency. The continuous support from the top management and their commitment help the Ministry’s own staff in achieving this goal without the aid of consultation bodies. This is a great source of pride that demonstrated the power of teamwork and ability of Bahraini employees to show the commitment to accomplish such great tasks.
The achievement of ISO 9001 Certification is a milestone in our journey toward continuous improvement and total customer satisfaction. Having the Ministry’s quality system certified not only demonstrates its success but it builds a bridge of confidence to its customers since the system is always maintained.
The Ministry of Industry & Commerce would like to emphasize that meeting customers' needs with efficiency and effectiveness is its main objective, and would therefore welcome any suggestions/contributions in this respect. Written or verbal suggestions are welcomed and can be through the Ministry’s Web site, personal interviews, telephone, or through the suggestions boxes available in the Ministry's site.
