Metrology Conferences and Exhibition
One of the major events that occur every two years in the Kingdom of Bahrain, is the Metrology Conference and Exhibition. Bahrain Ministry of Industry and Commerce is very much keen to hold these conferences, as 'Metrology' is one of its major functions within the Standards and Metrology Directorate (BSMD). The Ministry of Commerce in association with Bahrain Defense Force, Bahrain Society of Engineers and Bahrain Convention & Exhibition Bureau has successfully organized two earlier international Metrology conference and exhibition held in the year 2002 and 2004. The theme of these conferences was to provide a platform for presentations, exhibit, discussions and exchange of ideas on the changing scenario, liberalization and global trade. The importance of Metrology, especially with respects to barriers to trade and the role of measurement Institutes in the removal of such barriers were covered in detail. Latest developments in the metrology, standards, calibration and accreditation, quality systems and Global Trade etc. were also discussed during these conferences. An Exhibition was held in conjunction with the Conference at the Venue and leading instrumentation manufactures and metrology service providers were exhibited there products and services. The two events were well attended and attracted a total of 70 exhibitors and almost 600 conference delegates from 28 countries around the world.
1st Metrology Conference and Exhibition : The 1st Middle East Metrology Conference and Exhibition was held from 6-8 May 2002 and has proven that there is a definitive need for the establishment of a bi-annual conference and exhibition in the Middle East as a regular forum for information exchange and easy access to the latest technical solutions in metrology. Over 300 attendances at the first event have concluded that internationally accepted measurement standards in commerce and industrial manufacturing can only be achieved through uniformity in measurement and equipment calibration to globally accepted norms.
2nd Metrology Conferences and Exhibition : The second metrology conference and Exhibition titled “Middle East Measurement and Instrumentation 2004- Second Middle East Metrology Conference and Exhibition” was held from 10-12 May 2004. The main emphasis of this conference were on Measurement Standards, Standardization of Measurements in line with rapid Industrial Development, industrial-process measurement and its control. It is also covered , the real science of measurement, its complexity in relation to the level of accuracy in the advancement of Technology. The important of establishing a uniform standard of measurement to improve the National Economy is also discussed. National and international experts from various courtiers, metrology institutes, Laboratories and Accreditation bodies were presented papers on various Conference's Topics. In the Exhibition, held at the Venue, Manufacturers and organizations dealing with Process Technology, Calibration Services, Environmental and Safety Measurement, and Quality Standards like ISO Services were exhibited their Products and Services. Most of the Exhibition Stall were reserved and occupied by internationally well known companies. This conference was one of the foremost International events in the field of Metrology and was a great success in all aspects, particularly, with its great number of attendees from various countries, all over the world.
3rd Middle East Metrology Conference and Exhibition
In continuation of the above series , the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, announced the third conference titled " Third Middle East Metrology Conferences & Exhibition" and is organized in association with Bahrain Defense Force, Bahrain Society of Engineers and Bahrain Convention & Exhibition Bureau. The conference is scheduled to be held on 29-31 May 2006 at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Hassan Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, Kingdom of Bahrain. This conference aims to focus on all the issues of metrology and particularly highlights the advances made in metrology in recent years. As in all our previous Conferences, this conference & Exhibition is expected to attract a larger participation and a wider coverage of topics. It will be an ideal forum for all concerned for fruitful interactions and exchange of ideas. The conference will include formal presentations, informal technical meetings, and panel discussion in various topics.
A "call for papers" has been recently announced by the organizers inviting Professional, Academics and Measurement experts to submit their technical papers. The Exhibition is expected to provide an excellent opportunity to the manufactures and service providers to show-case their products and services to their target customers.
