Standards Implementation
The Directorate of Standards and Metrology has put the required procedures to implement the National Standards in which the National Committee approves these Standards for Standards and Metrology. The National Committee approved several GCC Standards as Mandatory Standards followed by Ministerial Orders and then issued in the Official Gazette.
The Directorate has broadcasted the requirements of any product entering the market for nine main products to fulfill its conformity with the standards. The nine Products controlled in the Customs:
- Tires.
- Car Batteries.
- Asbestos.
- Toys.
- Plastic Bags.
- Tissue Papers.
- Cigarettes
- Weighing Scales , Weights , Measuring Tapes & Meters
- Flash Tank Cisterns
Food inspection is the responsibility of Directorate of Public Health - Ministry of Health, and vehicle inspection is the responsibility of Directorate of Traffic. The Directorate has established two offices for inspection, one at customs office in Mina Salman and the second one at King Fahad Causeway , in addition to the random sampling in the local market to check and approve all regulated products before entrance into the market.
